What is AQA Unit Award Scheme?

The Unit Award Scheme (UAS) is a unique way to record learner achievement. Its ‘can do’ approach is used to boost the learner’s confidence, engagement and motivation.

AQA UAS allows all students to engage with learning and have their achievements formally recognised.

Learners are rewarded with a certificate each time they successfully complete a unit of learning. They can build up a portfolio of certificates to evidence their skills, knowledge and experience. Certificates can be used to support further education, employment, CPD (for adult learners) or even just to document learning in alternative environments.

The scheme boosts confidence, increases engagement and improves motivation, helping learner’s to make progress on their lifelong learning journey.

Everything in one place

We have designed the package so that you can have everything done for you, so you can just "pick it up and go". There are a range of different types of resources too so you can also decide what approach would be best to tackle unit outcomes.

If you prefer to source your own resources from elsewhere, that is fine too. Register for an education pack of your choosing and then you are free to explore outcomes however you like*. Simply submit evidence back to us as a PDF file for units that you have completed.

*For English and Maths packs, if you choose not to use LCB Education workbooks, we will only accept alternative evidence from accredited resource providers, clearly marking where outcomes have been met.

FAQs

What is AQA?

AQA is an awarding body for qualifications. It is internationally recognised and one of the biggest in the UK.

How does it all work?

You can either purchase bundles of "pick your own units" from us, or register for one of our education packs.
Complete units of your choosing from your package on and send us evidence of the outcomes being met as a PDF document on email, or via our submissions portal.
Our teachers will mark the work and provide feedback to you via email within 3 working days.
We claim certificates from the awarding body for you when it "passes", and post them to you 3 times a year via 1st class tracked postage.

What age is this for?

LCB Education can facilitate learners from 4- 104. There really is something for everyone, and it is common for adults to register themselves alongside their children because they are enjoying the process so much. Typically though, our learners are aged 4 -19 for AQA Education Pack.

We provide material for pre-entry level, entry level and Functional skills and you can dip in and out of whatever feels right each month.

Do I have to use LCB Education resources?

No. You are free to use whatever resources you like. If you have an English or Maths package with us WITHOUT LCB Education resources though, you can only use resources that have been AQA approved, and must mark clearly where each outcome has been completed for those units.

What does a unit look like?

LCB Education choose around 12 units like this each month with a differing learning theme for learners to choose from. You can either register for our education pack when it opens or purchase a "Pick Your Own" bundle to choose your own units from the AQA database.

If you would prefer to choose units from the AQA database and work from them yourself (we cannot provide resources for these), purchase a single unit or a bundle. You do not need to be registered with any other package with us to use this service.
